If not where is the best place to get a replacement

Couple of questions.

What is the warranty for batteries? I have a MBP less than a year old and just recently I get less than 45 minutes a charge.
1. Is it covered?
2. If not where is the best place to get a replacement?

Also I did not opt for the Apple warranty and am still deciding if I should get it (have one for my wife’s MB and pondering if it has been cost effective).

2. Amazon charges 296
3. eBay sellers with awesome feedback have it for ~210. Has anyone specifically bought an Apple Care Warranty from eBay?
4. Any other choices?

   I’m not sure if the warranty covers the battery, though.

   The thing about AppleCare is that if you never use it, then it’s more or less a waste of money. BUT, at the moment you need it, and you have it, it can save you a lot. Its an insurance plan. You don’t buy car insurance because you KNOW you’re going to wreck your car, you buy it just in case you do.

   Any place you get it from is fine, and eBay is good too as long as the seller is reputable.

   The only way to find out on the battery is to take it in to an Apple Store. If it’s less than a year old then I am willing to bet they’ll just swap you out. I know my sister was having issues with hers and it was just over a year old and they swapped it out for her without any hassle. She didn’t even have Apple Care for hers.

   I think KaosDG covered the Apple Care.

   I do understand the concept of insurance. I am betting I have more types of insurance and total cost of coverage than 99% of people on the boards.

   The part of not opting for the insurance (Apple Care) at time of purchase was to wait the year and buy the remaining 2 years at a later time.

   My specific question was if any one had bought Apple Care from eBay or another source (other than Apple) at a reduced cost?

   update on battery. went to Apple store and they exchanged it with no fuss, using a new battery right now .

   I bought mine off eBay from a guy called macman812. Totally reputable and I paid 205 for my Macbook Pro.

   One word. Fastmac.

   My truepower battery for the MBP comes in at 6500 MAh and gets 4.5+ hours of battery life. Looks identical to the aluminum stock battery and is tad lighter.

   I will keep Macman and FastMac in mind (will need Fast Mac for my wife’s macbook soon).

   So will my Macbook Pro be covered? I totally forgot that as soon as I got the computer I immediately took it apart and upgraded to 4 gigs of memory and a 7200 RPM drive.

   If you remember doing those things on the last gen MBP was quite invasive. Will the computer be coverable?

   Well, you are covered by the magnuson-moss act, that basically states if the changes you made are not related to your issues then your warranty is still intact. So, while you had your MBP apart, if you accidentally did something that caused your problem, then you are SOL. If your problem is not as a result of your modifications, then your warranty is still intact.

    Don’t think the warranty covers the battery. Mines dying and I think they are about 100.

    I had my battery replaced several times under warranty. 1st-gen MBPs had shitty batteries.
